Pancakes with a Purpose
Our mission at Flagship is centered around building community and creating experiences through food. Therefore, whenever our team has the opportunity to get outside of the kitchen and put that mission into action, it’s a win.
This September our culinary team in Menlo Park participated in the 15th Annual Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction. A touching event that raises money for the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF). Alisa Ann was eight years old when she died from injuries suffered during an unfortunate backyard barbeque accident. Since then, the California-based foundation has worked closely with firefighters, burn care professionals, volunteers and organizations (like us!) to provide a variety of programs and opportunities for children and adult survivors of burn injuries.
One of the big fundraising events each year is the Pancake Breakfast, for which volunteers from our catering and kitchen teams spend the morning preparing and serving a delicious breakfast for hundreds of attendees.
“We look forward to participating in this event each year. Staff from all levels of our organization – Sous Chefs, Line Cooks, Prep Cooks Dishwashers and Front of House– volunteer their Saturday to cook a breakfast filled with love,” said Ralph Covarrubias, Flagship’s Executive Director of Client Engagement. “Many of our staff bring their children or spouse and together we are able to make a beautiful breakfast and help unite our local community for a great cause.”
Hosted at the Mountain View Fire Station 4, over 850 adults, children and families came to enjoy the food, fire department festivities and to raise funds for a great cause. Over $15,000 was raised this year for AARBF, bringing the Pancake Breakfast and Silent Auction’s fundraising total to over $200k since the event started in 2005.
