Nilla Banana Pudding Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup flower
- 3 eggs, separated
- 2 cups of milk
- Dash of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 45 vanilla wafers
- 5 bananas, sliced
Recipe Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in top of double boiler
- Add 3 egg yolks and milk. Cook uncovered, over boiling water 10-12 minutes, stirring constantly
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
- Spread small amount of custard on bottom of baking dish and then cover with a layer of wafers, a layer of sliced bananas and a layer of custard over bananas
- Continue to layer wafers, bananas and custard to make a total of 3 layers each. End with custard
- Beat egg whites on high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually, add remaining 1/4 cup sugar, beating until stiff peaks form
- Pour and spread evenly over custard to cover, sealing well to edge
- Bake 15-20 minutes until browned
- Let chill for 1 hour
- Top with remaining banana and wafers along inside edge of cooked pudding
